SOVI is an independent women’s clothing brand based in the tiny mountain town of Black Mountain, North Carolina, built around a love for bold prints, vintage silhouettes, and clothes with a little personality.
I started SOVI more than a decade ago, and over the years it has evolved right alongside me. Today, the collection is a mix of dramatic bell bottoms, fringe, hand-dyed bamboo, one-of-a-kind silks, easy dresses, and retro graphics — all with a distinctly SOVI point of view.
Inspired by the freedom of the ’70s, worn-in vintage finds, music, travel, and a little bit of the unexpected, I design pieces that feel playful without feeling like a costume and comfortable without being boring. The kind of clothes you reach for again and again — and the ones strangers stop you to ask about.
SOVI is still a one-woman small business. I’m incredibly hands-on with what I create, from designing collections and developing prints to sewing limited pieces and packing orders here in the mountains of North Carolina.
I’ve never been interested in chasing every trend. I’d rather make really good clothes with character for women who feel the same way.

Meet Samantha
I’m Samantha, the designer and one-woman show behind SOVI.
What started more than a decade ago has grown into a brand that still feels incredibly personal to me. I design collections, develop graphics, sew limited pieces, hand-dye fabric, photograph products, pack orders - and do just about everything else that comes with running an independent clothing brand.
SOVI has changed a lot over the years, but the reason I do it hasn’t: I love creating clothes that feel a little different from everything else out there.
